As is the case with many fortifications of great historical and strategic importance, access to the town was regulated by a defensive system consisting of a double gate.

This solution was particularly common in very important defensive structures, where the protection of people and property within the hamlet was a top priority.

The double door consisted of an outer door, called the anti-porta, and an inner door.

The image shows a stone archway as if it were an entrance.

Access to the interior of the castle was provided by a single gate on the gentler slope to the southwest. The walls and the gateway are actually set on the rocky paleosol that has not been worked, but has some traces of holes for housing posts of uncertain date.

The door is now presented with a segmental arch, and it is very noticeable that it is part of a redefinition of the access in the Medici renovation phase of the entire castle. In this sense, door and antiporta must be seen as a joint action.
