Named after the Mutual Aid Society, the square is now a center of community life in Giglio Castello, a venue for cultural and social events. Located at the historic walls, it is connected to the external road system via the Lombi gate.

The square owes its name to the mutual aid society, which, thanks in part to the support of the King of Italy, played an important role in the history of the local community in the early post-unification period.
Even today the hall is a central place for the Giglio Castello community, which uses it for cultural events and social initiatives.
The square is an open space close to the walls built and renovated between the late medieval andmodern ages.
Thanks to a gap opened in the walls(varco dei Lombi), a second access is possible between the castle and the ring road.
