Rising on the area of the former church of Santa Maria, now gone, the space represents the main access and junction point of the Giglio Castello. Central for mobility and services, it is also a place of gathering and reception thanks to the presence of bars and restaurants.

On the site where the church of Santa Maria stood until the 19th century, moreover still visible in theancient land register, there is now an open space that has been partly artificially flattened. It is now a central point of the settlement, as it is theprimary access to the castle but also a meeting and junction point, since there are not many spaces of adequate width within themedieval settlement.

A first aspect to highlight is its centrality in the area of mobility, as the shuttle service connecting Giglio Porto with the Giglio Castello and Campese stops right here. The cab service also finds its junction point here, as do the emergency services that cannot enter the interior from theantiport.

The area is also important forhospitality because there are several bars and restaurants that welcome tourists in transit.
