You are at Belvedere Argentario, a privileged vantage point from which you can admire Mount Argentario and the Tuscan coast, stretching as far as Talamone. On clearer days, your gaze can reach as far as theisland of Elba.
Theisland of Giglio owes its centrality within the Tyrrhenian sea route to its geographical location but also to the presence of easy landings and water resources. Both have always been essential conditions for the support of navigation, which until recent times was mostly under the coast. This route, already active in the fifth millennium B.C., became central both in Roman times and in the Middle Ages. The island, together with Monte Argentario, controls the corridor in which the route has always developed, offering landing opportunities on both sides.
