How Window H works (Service in activation)
- Book online through the dedicated form at visitgigliocastello.it.
- Indicates any specific needs (motorized wheelchair, assistant, stair lift, etc.).
- You will receive email confirmation with instructions and meeting time at theinfo point in Gloriosa Square.
The H desk is run in collaboration with the Municipality of Isola del Giglio and staff trained to provide welcome and support while visiting the village.
Accessibility in Giglio Castello
The village of Giglio Castello, thanks to the project to remove physical and cognitive barriers, is now more accessible even for those who have mobility difficulties or need assistance.
Through the H Desk, it is possible to reserve supports and aids for visiting the main points of interest in the Castle in safety and comfort.
By filling out the reservation form on the website, visitors can request:
- Stairlift chairs with assistance for sections with steps;
- Motorized wheel chairs or motorized kit for manual wheelchairs, for moving on uneven floors or slopes;
- Companions trained to support in conditional accessibility routes;
- Facilitated access to info points and accessible toilets.
ACCESSIBLE ROUTES (autonomous)
Circondaria Street: looped driveway surrounding the Castle walls, 10 km/h zone, equipped with dedicated signage and new parking stalls for people with disabilities.
Gloriosa Square: starting point with accessible info point and disabled toilets.
Accessible parking finish area for those entering from the Lombi gate, with 8 stalls reserved for the disabled and 4 for pink quotas, as well as an equipped viewpoint (POA).
CONDITIONAL ACCESSIBILITY ROUTES
Accessible with aids or with the support of companions:
Largo Baffigi and connection with Church of St. Peter the Apostle;
Route from Accessible Parking to Rocca Pisana and Castle Square;
Square and Lombi Hall.
OPERATOR-ACCESSIBLE ROUTES
Currently not independently accessible, but walkable with stairlifts or assistance:
From City Hall to the Rocca Pisana;
Links to St. Peter's Church and Municipal Archives.
