Throughout the area inside the Giglio castello we have two other masonries whose texture dates back to the 12th century.
Both are at the church of San Pietro, likely to be identified with the parish of Giglio mentioned, but without the dedication, in theRationes Decimarum of 1276(Rationes) as pertaining to the diocese of Sovana.
The church was completely rebuilt in the 18th century with a change of orientation. From the 1722 plan (Roani Villani 1993, p. 82) the old Romanesque church form of a hall (more like a parallelogram) with a quadrangular apse can be seen very well.
By that time, however, the church had already been enlarged on the east side, and in fact it seems we can see in the texture still visible the reuse of this material placed in place but not following horizontal courses in the still texture texture.
We could imagine a late medieval extension or rebuilding (but in the northeast corner a portion of filarotto weaving was preserved).
The two Romanesque churches inside the castle find comparisons with coeval Elban churches by Pisan craftsmen (Belcari 2009, pp. 112-120).
